KARACHI: The Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) hosted the 2nd edition
of its annual fundraiser – the KDSP Golf Tournament 2019 at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) Karsaz, themed ‘A Drive towards Inclusive Education’.

With Silk Bank on board as the Title Sponsor, the event brought together seasoned golfers for an exciting game of golf, whilst creating awareness about and garnering support for educational initiatives for individuals with Down syndrome.

Registrations began bright and early at 7:00 AM, where golfers gathered to play in a Texas Scramble Format (4 players), followed by a Tee-off Shotgun at 8:30 AM.
The game was followed by a short presentation and award ceremony where Ms. Farzeen Ali, CoFounder and Deputy Chief Executive Officer – KDSP, took to the stage to present a short video and a heartfelt speech on the significance of inclusion and educational opportunities for all.

Ms. Farzeen remarked, “As we pursue the development of inclusive educational institutions for our children, we are not only making an effort to simply providing a differently-abled child with the opportunity to sit and interact amongst typical children, we are in pursuit of a way of life for everyone that values a tolerant, humane, tender and compassionate world – the only way of life that should be.”

The ceremony was attended by the golfers and esteemed guests, including Guests of Honor –Sheheryar Munawar and Mr. Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh – Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, who expressed positive sentiments about the cause and pledged to further support KDSP’s initiatives for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

The ceremony included exciting prizes for the Caddies’ and Golfers’ including Lucky Draws, Longest Drive, Nearest To The Pin, Runners Up (2 and 1) and Winner awards. There was also a Hole In One award won by Ms. Tabassum Sharif who took home a Toyota XLi Car.

The event came to a close with enthusiasm and sheer delight being expressed by all attendees at having participated for such a great cause.
